The most popular question about email is how to configure it with Outlook. Here is a quick video on how to configure your email with Outlook 2003: Here is a video on how to configure 2007/2010 (They are both the same setup although this refers just to 2007 in the video). |

Changing passwords, deleting and adding users is easy with the Workplace Collaboration Suite. After you’ve logged in using the administrative account for your domain, click on the lower of the two gears in your Mail screen. If your email account is an administrative account, you will see a link entitled Manage This Domain. Clicking this link will bring you to your email control panel. If you don’t see the Manage Domains option under this drop-down, then you are not logged into an administrative account. Contact your Webmaster at 800-896-4500 for help getting into your Google Apps Dashboard.
When you click on the Manage Domains link, it will bring you to your Google Apps Dashboard. First, click on the Organization & users (1) button, which will bring you to a screen similar to this:
To add new users, simply click on the Create New User button and follow the prompts. To delete a user, check off the user by clicking on the empty square to the left of that user’s name. With that user checked off, click on the More Actions drop down and select Delete Users. Note: if you delete a user, that email address may be unavailable for use for up to three days, so be very careful while deleting users. To change a current user’s password, click on that user’s name in the Organization & Users screen. (2) This will bring you to a screen like this:
Click on the Change Password (1) link to change the password. You will not be able to see the current password; you will only be able to change an existing password to something new. To assign one of your existing users as an admin, click on the Roles & Priviledges (2) link. Assigning a user as a Super Admin gives them the ability to open the Google Apps Dashboard, so assign this role with care. Nicknames (3) , sometimes called aliases, allow one email address to receive messages sent to a non-assigned email address. In the example above, user@yourdomain.com will automatically receive any messages sent to info@yourdomain.com in their inbox. This means you don’t have to use one of your 10 email addresses for info@, and user@ won’t have to worry about checking two email addresses. If an address is added as a nickname, it cannot be added as a stand-alone email address or listed as a nickname under another user’s account. For example, no other user on the yourdomain.com account could add info@ as either a nickname to their own email address or as a unique email address without first removing it as a nickname from the user@ address. If the first half of your email address is your name, it’s a good idea to include the common misspellings of your name as nicknames. For example, if your email address is kathy@yourdomain.com, it’s a good idea to add cathy@ as a nickname. That way you won’t miss any emails from prospective clients who haven’t learned how you spell your name. |
