name-tagFor those of you who don’t know me let me introduce myself! My name is Erik Thomsen, I was born and raised in Freeport, Maine. For those of you who aren’t familiar with that area I have one thing to say, home of L.L. Bean. I went to high school at North Yarmouth Academy where I developed a love for the natural sciences and played a wide variety of sports.

After high school I was accepted into Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont where I studied Meteorology, but after a year decided that is wasn’t for me and changed my course of study to Interactive Digital Media. I graduated with a Minor in Meteorology and BA in Interactive Digital Media.

Throughout my life I have always been encouraged to explore the outdoors and early on developed a strong liking for anything involving activities that brought me out into the wilderness.

I love to hike, bike, fish, swim, kayak, camp, (this list could go on for days) etc… My favorite summer time social activities would have to be playing frisbee (especially with an LED frisbee at night!), attending massive camp outing family reunions or festivals in strange and far off places and relaxing with friends at the beach.

When the long winter months hit I shift to endless days on the ski slopes atop my mini blades buried neck deep in powder on a lesser traversed glade. I also love to ice skate, and from time to time I’ve been known to trek out on my snow shoes, construct a snow cave and camp out for a night.

I also live a very technology savvy lifestyle. I’m a huge gadget guru, and love all digital toys. Among my favorites I would have to say I play with my remote controlled dragon flies and my iPod Touch the most. I’m a PC person, I strongly despise Internet Explorer 6, and live a very digitally enhanced life style.

On a more personal note, I’m very outgoing, take great pride in having a lot of patience and I love truly open minded individuals who constantly thirst for more knowledge. I am politically aware and love to research and add to the pursuit of green technologies. I do not enjoy cable television, but I am a huge movie fanatic, especially when it comes to documentaries & Pixar productions.

Did I mention that I’m always on the move? I might be noted as a bit hyperactive, but I try to keep it under control by being a bit constructive with my extra spurts of energy. Often time this overflows into my love for art projects and love for tinkering with electronics and software.
